How can you tell the difference between a female or a male rainbow trout?

for all female fish there is a little red dot on its lower chest. this is where the the female fish will lay its eggs from. and this might not be true but a lot of the time female fish are bigger. those are really the only ways i tell them apart. good luck fishin
