What if my landlord does not renew our Lease?

Our lease is up at the end of June. We have the feeling that he may not renew our lease (we have had plenty of issues with him). If he does not, doesn't he have to give us a certain period of time to vacate or notify us in some manner? I am not sure what to expect and how much of a rush I should be in to find another rental?
